Lightroom will not recognize canon raw files

I have Lightroom 4.4.1 installed on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) I'm running Yosemite, but the problem was the same with Mavericks

Lightroom will not recognize the CR2 files from my Canon EOS 7d or Canon PowerShot G16
It was not any problem when I used my late 2007 iMac

Is there a solution to this?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, Mac OS X (10.0.x)

HI, I've Y.10.10 and LR 5, and have no issues. reads the CR2 files from the 7D and the 5D3, reads the video files from both fine also.

Might want to upgrade to LR 5, good deals going or use the monthly sub rate and get PS also.

I would love to upgrade to LR5, but Adobe will not let me upgrade, since I live in the Faroe Islands.
