May 17, 2015 10:14 AM in response to Niku Steadmanby eriji,I have a 6 Plus, and this happens to me most often in the Youtube app. It sometimes happens in Safari, and occasionally in another app.
As the title says, "THIS IS NOT A REACHABILITY ISSUE" -- so double tapping home DOES NOT work.
Usually, at least with Youtube, I cannot get the problem solved without restarting the phone. It is definitely a bug, and I don't see it to be one of reachability. In Youtube and Safari, the problem SOMETIMES happens so that its a half screen similar to the look of reachability, although, parts of the screen are cut off and not reachable at that point. Sometimes it splits vertically, with only the left third of the screen showing. When you go into "full screen" on a video, you get a tiny thumbnail in the middle instead of full screen. That is consistent regardless of which symptom the problem displays. There are similar issues with Safari. I've seen it also happen in apps like Facebook where they use their own browser to present content. When it happens, there doesn't seem to be a fix except to restart. Killing the app doesn't seem to work with Youtube, and I haven't tried it with another app.

Jun 12, 2015 7:37 AM in response to erijiby trina1320,I have the same exact thing. It always happens for me in youtube, and often. Every single post I have read except this one is answered by someone who gives information for the reachability. THIS IS NOT THE PROBLEM. The only thing that I have found to fix this issue is to either reinstall you tube or do a hard reboot when it occurs. This is a bug. If not, someone please tell me how to fix. It is annoying.

Hi Guys
Was surfing the net this morning and for some reason Safari has limited my view to half screen, the remaining is in black. This is nothing to do with reachability I can use this by tapping and not clicking the home screen, it works fine. I cannot seem to expand the screen or pull it down. It is also nothing to do with bookmarks on half the side of screen just in case that questions was posed. Any suggestions???
Thank you for your time.

Camzio said --It's NOT REACHABILITY. I have the same issue. Usually closing the app out and then restarting it works, but yes it's annoying. One more time before someone replies with "turn reachibility off": IT'S NOT REACHABILITY, like Camzio said. Better yet, I am able to induce reachability when the phone does has this odd malfunction. So basically what happens when I activate REACHABILITY, the screen goes from half screen to quarter screen. I REPEAT, THIS ISSUE IS INDEPENDENT OF REACHABILITY.
It is very annoying though and has happened to me occasionally.

Mar 2, 2016 9:21 AM in response to Camzio1679by vidja,Not sure why this works as my phone is only a day old and was working without half screen on standard mode but issue appeared out of nowhere, however if you go to settings - display & Brightness - view - select zoomed this resolves the issue restarts and resetting settings didn't work

Thank you for explaining it! I observed this "black half screen" multiple timed, and my solution was just to tap once the black half of the screen, so it got back to normal.
Now thanks to your post, i do know why it happens, and may call it intentionally.
