How to automatically erase data after incorrect passwords on my mac?

Hi everyone!

I am running a new macbook on Yosemite and I wanted to know if it is possible to automatically erase all my data after failing to write a correct password during the login.

So basically, if someone tries to guess my password and they fail I want all my data to erase itself. I want my SSD to be clean/empty.

Thanks!

Sincerely,

Lukass

I don't know of a way to do that (although there may be). Also consider that there are ways for someone with a little knowledge to get to your data even without the correct password unless you are using FileVault. I have FileVault activated on my MacBook Air and once it finished encrypting cannot see any performance issues. You may want to consider FileVault. OS X: About FileVault 2 - Apple Support

Thank you. I checked out FileVault 2 and it almost solves my problem.

I understand that my data gets encrypted once I turn it on, and, unless I know my password or the back up code, I cannot access my data.

My question now is, will the data be visible if the password is right on the 3rd or 5th try (or any other try)? Because I do not want it to.

The thing is that someone who can crack your password and get into your computer will see the data either way, no matter if it is encrypted or not. Right?

Yes if someone cracked your password they could get to your data even with FileVault on. My point was that without FileVault they can get to your data even without cracking your password and it is fairly easy.

I don't know of a better answer than FileVault and a strong password. You can also require the user to enter both the username and password to login.I don't know of a way to limit the number of password attempts -- although there may be a way that I'm not aware of.
