In these numbers the /A means WiFi only, and the /B WiFi plus Cellular
No, it doesn't. The /B model is exactly the same except that it ships with iOS 8 installed. The /A model is the original iPad Air with iOS 7.
Hi William,
I think you are mistaken.
Lex
You can think that, if you like. You'll just be wrong.
Lex is correct. Maybe you'd like to cite your source?
He didn't bother (and neither did you), but sure, why not. Just check the Apple Store. Search for MD786LL/B and you'll get an iPad Air Wi-Fi 32GB - Space Gray. The models with cellular have totally different part numbers for each carrier.
MD786LL/A is the original version of this model prior to the release of the iPad Air 2 and has iOS 7 installed. Check MacTracker or do a basic internet search if you need to confirm that one.
Yes, check the Apple store: the moment you look is important for which iOS is installed. Not the model, that describes the technical specification (which is what the unit can do, NOT what iOS is on it).
Thanks, Long time no see. He just doesn't want to now.

How polite. And neither did you, aside from telling us to look it up ourselves.

No argument there.

You have yet to prove that. Where does Apple state this? A "basic Internet search" is unlikely to provide reliable, concrete information.
Apparently not.
"No argument there."
Actually, that was the original disagreement. Lex said "In these numbers the /A means WiFi only, and the /B WiFi plus Cellular", which you just agreed is incorrect. There's no cellular on the /B model.
I am still not sure, but you may be correct for the later iPads: the 7A could be for WiFi only and for WiFi+Cellular.
If so, I apologise.
😊

I know I'm replying to an older post, but I have to say you are correct. My mom just ordered and received her iPad Air model MD786LL/B, and it Is wi-fi ONLY - no cellular. And it came with the iOS 8 installed on it. Thank you for explaining the difference.
The MD786LL/B is a later 2012 model that ships with iOS 8 pre-installed. That's the only difference as far as I can tell.
Lex is NOT correct. I have the /B model and it does not have Cellular.
