Which camcorder/format to use in order to allow direct video import into iPhoto?

Hello everyone,

Going crazy here. I cannot seem to find what formats/containers/etc iPhoto is compatible with to allow a direct import of movies from a camcorder into iPhoto. I am currently using an old Sony DCR-SX65 and I have to copy my movies and organize them into folders. iPhoto tells me the format is invalid when I try to use the "import' button on iPhoto.

All I want to do is be able to plug in my camera or SD card, have iPhoto open, and hit import. I am willing to buy a new camcorder (I do not want to use iPhone, digital camera, etc.) if needed, just need to know what to buy or what to look for.

I do NOT want to use iMovie. I will never edit my videos, what I shoot is what I want to see. Can anyone help me please???? Thank you!!
