IPad 2 crashes with new os 8

Ever since downloading iOS 8.1 on my iPad 2, generation 3, I am experiencing numerous crashes daily. I have deleted and reinstalled apps, but it freezes up in gmail, or while searching, or it simply crashes, showing the black Apple rebooting screen.

Anyone else with this problem? It worked great before the new OS! I am super frustrated with this! If I knew how, I'd go back to the old OS. Apple should offer this, I feel!

You may need to clean out your system with a clean install, a reset to factory default, with iTunes on your desktop computer. Be sure to do backups and turn off your anti-virus software on your desktop.
