iPhone 6 Plus LED alert not working.

I've tried searching for related issues, and haven't found anything since 2011 with a quick Google search. Most links just tell you how to turn the flash alert on but no new issues. All of my devices are on iOS 8.1. I gave my father my 64GB 5S with a clean install and he still has the issue as well. So, that makes my iPhone 6 Plus, my girls iPhone 6 and my fathers iPhone 5S not flashing LED on messages and sometimes calls. There aren't any custom vibrations enabled on any if the devices. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is it a known bug or am I just not doing something right here? i never had an issue before the iOS 8 release. Any help would be appreciated.

I am having this same issue on my iPhone 6. I thought it was just me or maybe I was doing something wrong. I'm not sure if it was the recent update or what but it no longer working, any suggestions Apple?

No one from Apple here, so you would not get a suggestion from them. This is a user to user support forum.

What troubleshooting steps have you tried to remedy the situation? User troubleshooting steps are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new.

Thanks for your reply, I've tried all of the troubleshooting steps you provided in your previous reply, still nothing. Restarted, restored, restored from a previous backup, restored to factory defaults etc.

Does the flash work with the camera? Have you tried toggling it off/on in Accessibility? I've only used it long enough to test on my 5s, and it is working fine. You can make an appointment with the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store to have the hardware checked.

My flash works perfectly fine, I've toggled it off and back on. As a matter of fact it just worked on about 1 of the last 10 text messages I just received so, maybe it's an intermittent thing, whereas it used to work every time.

If you restored the device as new, without a backup, then it is hard for it to be a software thing. You can try restoring once more as new, and if that doesn't work, then I suggest you make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store to have the device evaluated.

I was having this issue today, then figured out that the flash alert only works when the phone is locked. I've never had the setting turned on on previous phones, but maybe this is something new with iOS 8.

It has always worked that way, phone needs to be locked in order for LED alerts to work.

🙂Make sure your Camera Flash is on AUTO!! and then it will work !!!

I spoke to a customer support representative who said the messaging software(firmware) was damaged (likely from and app update gone wrong). My led alert also was not working for messaging but working for incoming calls. You will need to back up your phone, restore your phone (while it's plugged in iTunes, not the reset on the actual phone), and then restore your content from the backup.
