How do I convert .aae file to jpg?

All of a sudden my photos are being saved as .aae files instead of .jpg files. I updated to ios8 last week, but I am pretty sure I've taken photos since then that were .jpg files. But, today they are all .aae and unusable. I need to get the pictures to my pc to use for work. How can I get them off my phone and convert them to .jpgs?

Please help!

iPhone 5, Windows XP

Ya - They should stop behaving like tech elites, and start realizing they need to compete with products who's developers care about average (non-tech type) people. It should not be so complicated. If their products can (without proper warning) convert my jpg files to aae (just because I edited them, thier products should give me a way to put them back to jpg format, once I'm satisfied with the edits...
It's very ridiculous for this to be such a problem. If they don't address this, my first Apple product, will be my last Apple product
