Family Sharing requiring password for every purchase

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.

Yes, we just purchased an ipod touch and an ipad mini for our daughters for Christmas, and setup family sharing and enabled restrictions. The girls wanted to go in and download several dozen songs from my library, but they were having to enter their password with *every* *single* *download*. After 4-5 they gave up saying it was not worth it. Is this Apple's way to make it so painful that we won't share between accounts? At the very minimum if it had an option of say 15 minutes between passwords that would make it bearable. My workaround for now was to disable restrictions temporarily while they did a bunch of downloads, but this is not a great solution. It's a similar problem if they want to download 10-20 apps from the APP store (ironically they can download any of my previously purchased Apps WITHOUT a password -- that's not good either, as I don't want them to be able to get all my apps). So for new apps they have to enter their password before and after each time

My related complaints are that when they try to browse my music library of purchased songs there is no way to search for a song, they have to try to find the artist (which they usually don't know), or they have to scroll through hundreds of songs. Also, with the Ask to Buy feature it pops up as a request on my phone. I find that if I'm busy and I don't get to it within a couple hours the request disappears. I tried to go in and look for their requests under icloud family settings, but they're not there. The most recent requests are under notifications, but frequently they have to resubmit them. "Not cool Robert Frost."

I'm running into the same thing. If you turn off restrictions then the child doesn't need to enter password, but can now surf the web and have free reign.

i Don't understand Apple sometimes. I don't want my child to have access to their Apple ID account, if we could remove the password requirement from the ask to buy this family share would be working great for me

Has there been a resolution to this? I cannot find where Apple has replied. I think it is unfair how Apple can dictate how a parent can set up parental restrictions on an ipad. If my 7 year old wants to download a free game on his ipad mini, the ipad should send me notification asking for approval without asking for a password! These settings cannot be changed until he is 13yrs old! I guess the only work around is lie about his age! I find it very disheartening that Apple can tell people what their children can and cannot do with their device!

Is there a solution to this issue? I love Apple but this is really frustrating.

I don't want my 11 year old son to have to type in a secure password everytime he wants a free app, which is like 10 times a day it seems like. Unfortunately I thought that was one of the things I was getting away with using Family Sharing.

The way I used this before is, my entire family used my iTunes login for purchases and they all had their own separate iCloud login. Worked great, anytime they wanted an app they brought it to me to ask if they could have it. I reviewed it, then typed in my password without them seeing what it was. If they were away from me they had to wait until I was available.

I was thinking cool, if they can request it and I can review it and approve or decline right from my phone then that's great. I set it up and while testing it, my 11 year old has to type in his iCloud password every time? All they are going to do is bring it to me to type in the secure password they can't remember. So what have I accomplished with Family Sharing? Absolutely nothing. Yup, not impressed.

So someone tell me I'm missing something, please...
