Why won't my Mac Pro go to sleep any more?

I upgraded to yosemite I a few days later I noticed that my mac pro (3.1 early 2008 dual 2.8 xeon processors, two sad's one hdd, 14GB memory) doesn't go to sleep any more. When I choose sleep from the Apple menu the displays go dark and it looks like it's sleeping, but the system is still humming along, as if a fan or an HDD is still spinning. I can shut it down just fine, but would really like just to have it go to sleep like it used to.

I also recently added a PCIe USB 3.0/eSATA card for external connections (From OWC, compatible with my system).

Any known issues that would cause this?

Hi ..

Open System Preferences > Energy Saver then click: Restore Defaults

Then select Sleep from the Apple  menu.

See if that makes a difference.

If not, reset the PRAM > OS X Yosemite: Reset your computer’s PRAM

BTW, if connected, external drives can prevent the Mac from going in to sleep mode.

Thanks for the reply. Tried these steps and my system still won't go to sleep. I'm guessing the problem is related to some piece of hardware I've installed and the only way I'm going to find the problem is to uninstall things until I find the culprit.
