squeaky spacebar

its funny, my spacebar started squeaking the other day, but i did a little research and found a fix. What i did is i took the spacebar off (just pull up from the left corner and gradually move across until it is fully off) then take a little dishwashing soup - because oil is supposedly "bad" for the plastic - and rub a small amount over the 2 long metal bars. Replace the spacebar (make sure you put the longer of the 2 bars in the holes on the side before you push down) and the problem should be fixed....hope this helps...it helped me

had mine replaced by apple store today actually... so far so good..

Has anyone else tried this solution? I'm having the same problem and its driving me crazy...

My MBP 17 C2D has the squeaky spacebar too. I took it to the local apple store and the genius bar guy said it was fixed. It still squeaks though. Really annoying. He gave me the option of putting a replacement keyboard on order and then dropping off my laptop for a few days for a fix. Bummer.

I watched him remove the space bar and put it back on so I may try the above suggestion.

Mine was doing it, but as soon as I said "You are going to the Apple Store, little MBP", it stopped.

Heavy use of the spacebar cures the problem, usually.

My spacebar is squeaking also...
I Have a Macbook pro Core 2 Duo. I had the keyboard replaced, and it was fine for a week. Then it started squeaking again out of no where....argh...
I'm considering getting it replace again..
