Can I order an iPhone online from UK and collect from store in US?

I'm planning a trip to US and I would line to buy a new iPhone when I'm there. As I'm not going to have much time, I'd like to order in advance and just collect from store on my arrival. I've tried to order online for local pick up but the system is not able to locate the store I've selected (providing postal code). I have the feeling that the functionsalities is disabled when tring to place a 'pick up' order from another country. Any suggestions? Thanks. Andrea

You cannot arrange a pickup from a different country. Apple will not send goods except to an address in the same country, and paid for by a credit card registered in that same country.

You will save little money if any by buying in America. If you could, the warranty would only be useable in America. The prices advertised in America do not include local sales tax, which can be up to 10%. VAT and Import duties would be payable on bringing it into the UK.

All this is moot, because you cannot currently buy an unlocked iPhone in America.

Simple answer NO

You can only use the online store for the Country you are resident and use a payment method registered to an address in that Country

You certainly cannot order in one Country and pick up in another

The models available in various countries are also different

Thanks tonefox, that was helpful. Maybe I wasn't clear in my question, I would like to place an order on the US 'apple store website' and pick up my iPhone in person from a US store (so it would be US to US). However, I will place my order from a UK IP adress as I am now based in UK (but I will collect in person in US). Besides, I didn't consider local VAT, do you know how to calculate it for each US state? Thanks. Andrea

Again: you cannot do it.

You do realise that the prices quoted in Apple's Store include signing up and paying for a two year contract with an American service provider, don't you?

The IP is irrelevant. You cannot order from the US Apple store with a non US credit card or non US physical mailing address.

No, excuse me tonefox I don't realise it! In fact Apple Store US now sells also Contract-free iPhones and, again, shows Contract-free prices on the website as well. For example a 16GB iPhone 4.7 costs you $649 contract-free as opposed to $199 with AT&T for example...

Get someone in the US to buy it for you. You cannot buy from UK. You do understand that you will have NO warranty service outside the US, if you buy the phone in the US, correct?
