Q: ROOTIN' TOOTIN' YOSEMITE MAC MINI 2011

Yosemite has darn near enough killed off the speed of my Mac Mini 2011 which was running along fine on Mavericks. I now get the spinning PIZZA WHEEL OF DEATH in darn near every application. Safari has become a joke where you would think I had returned to 56k modem land. I would like toknow if Apple geniuses are going to do something about this? I would not have downloaded and instaled Yosemite if I had not been encouraged to do so by Apple's Tech Specs on this page http://www.apple.com/uk/osx/how-to-upgrade/?cid=wwa-uk-kwg-mac-com, which states quite clearly Yosemite will work on:

  • iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
  • MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminium, or Early 2009 or newer)
  • MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
  • MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
  • Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
  • Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
  • Xserve (Early 2009)

Any solutions?

I should have listened! The Ram was easy to fit into the bottom of mac mini too - I had thought I would have need to start unscrewing things but it was easy to access. Just put the update on to confirm the difference the ram makes for a mac mini 2011. Thanks again

" I always make sure to back up the Mail and Safari folders from the GO Menu System Library Folder (have to hold down ALT to unhide the Library Folder these days"

Way back last November you wrote the above. Explain the ALT hold down business: first, which is the ALT key? Control or Option? Second when do you hold it down? I've tried holding down either, both, all sorts of combinations, as I click the GO menu, but nothing changes.

    Cheers,

    J.

It's the Option key (it's just marked alt on non-US keyboards).

Hold it down and select Library from the Go menu in Finder. That will show your user Library.
