buying a second hand contracted iphone

I bought a second hand iphone 5c with 10 months warranty remaining of a family member in Scotland . They have told me that it is a contract phone with o2, as I am not the original owner, if it develops a fault will the apple store still repair or replace the handset for me I only have the original box as proof of ownership.

iPhone 5, iOS 8

DO NOT let O2 touch it

Take it to an Apple Store Genius bar and they will handle it .The warranty is vested in the device not the owner ..

Most iPhones in UK are on contract Apple will happily handle the issue .

So assuming you are in the UK or an EU member state any Apple store ( the ones owned by Apple) in any EU state will handle it
