My ipod Classic 160GB will not charge and will not start.

My ipod Classic 160GB will not charge and will not start. I have tried the dozens of solutions found elsewhere including trying to recover the ipod. Itunes will not recognize the device.

I have changed cables and charging devices which all work on other devices.

I have plugged directly into my computer.

I have tried stopping and starting Apple Mobile Devices.

Windows 7

Hi everyone

My ipod 160 GB classic is also not working, What happened was i was importing a cd onto itunes and the ipod froze. That has happened now and again so before I used to let correct itself and cxharge it and it was fine. This time it has not and what it is saying is after the apple logo comes up the x message comes up and the support web address comes up. There was also a slight noise coming from the back of it which sounded dodgy.. I do not want to pay 30 euro for a call but it looks like it could be" dead". Is there any suggestions on this?

Regards

Keith

Make sure the Hold switch is not in the ON position. Even if it is OFF, move it to ON and back to OFF.

Using a known good USB docking cable, connect it to power. Do the Reset procedure, which is to press and hold Menu and Center buttons at the same time.

If there is no reaction, the iPod's battery may not have any power left, which is why the iPod is "dead." If there is a hardware fault that is preventing a power connection, such as a faulty dock connector on iPod, it will not be possible to make the iPod start or charge its battery. The cause may also be a faulty USB docking cable or USB port on computer, but you have ruled out those possibilities with your described troubleshooting.

The temps are wrong. I think min start at 10 and should only fall. Max is OTT. However as the devices processor gets hotter it may start issuing random instructions before it locks up completely which is perhaps how those values were set. The reallocs and pendings look OK, assuming they haven't been reset. Can you explore the device in disk mode? If so then perhaps your battery has failed and it would be worth trying to replace it.
