Had my iPhone 6 (IOS 8.1.1) in my pocket while walking. Took it out and all displays were grayscale -- no color. Searched online for others having this problem and found a solution at another forum site.

Go to Settings>General>Accessibility>Grayscale to see if that is turned on. In my case, it wasn't. The site I was looking at suggested that if it wasn't turned on try using 3 finger touch to zoom in and out a few times and that that solved their problem. That didn't work for me.

I went to Settings>General>Accessibility>Zoom and turned off Zoom. That immediately solved the problem. The display went back to full color.

Have no idea why it worked, but it did.

My wife had that happen on her iPhone 6 (IOS 8.1.1). I got the box to come up by 3 finger tapping, but changing the grayscale setting had no effect.

So I went to Settings>General>Accessibility>Grayscale to see if that is turned on in that menu. In this case, it wasn't.
