Yosemite is a disaster. How do I uninstall it and go back to the previous OS?
You do not 'uninstall' an OS X. But you can erase your drive and reinstall the backup you made of your Mavericks System before choosing to upgrade to Yosemite.

I'm really ticked off at Apple for this disastrous new operating system. I've used Macs exclusively for more than 20 years, and this is the first time I've been so unhappy with an OS upgrade that I'm considering going to a Windows machine.
I thought you wanted to revert to Mavericks? I have no issues on Yosemite on my five Macs. Perhaps if you give isomer info we can help solve your issue, whatever they are,

Problem description:
After installing Yosemite, some docx files created in Microsoft Word for Mac 2011 (14.4.5 (141003)) will not open in Word. I can open them with Oracle OpenOffice, with some corruption in formatting, but when I save the files from OpenOffice into docx files, they still won’t open in Word. Most of my old files saved as doc or docx files apparently open in Word, but I haven’t checked them all—I have several thousand of them. At first I thought this was a general problem and I would not be able to open any doc or docx files in Word, but now after some experimentation I’ve learned that most of the older files will open, so all is not lost. But I don’t like this problem. I depend on Word for my business. I would appreciate any help you may be able to provide.

Try un-installing the above. Un-install using the developer’s instructions to make sure you remove all parts of the application.
