In Mail, using Yosemite - when I type an email the cursor does not display in the right place. This is particularly notable (irritating) when going back and editing the text. The cursor shows in a location, but when I start typing the text appears several characters to the left. It makes this difficult to make changes easily. Ideas ?

Just upgraded to Yosemite last month and have the same problem. Searched a few other apple forums and there seem to be many others with the same issue.
Very annoying to have the cursor in a different location then where one is typing. Surely, someone has been able to find a solution by now? Puleese!!!
Try these solutions... the first did not work for me. I deleted plist, but changing default fonts may work as well for mail and signatures from old coding... UTF-8 now needed. https://www.macissues.com/2014/12/15/fix-character-typing-problems-in-os-x-mail/
