Nov 7, 2014 6:24 PM in response to karrie53by Murilo.mac,If you want to use the SMS feature, which allows you to send SMS from your iPad with the iPhone number, for 1st you need to update both devices to iSO 8.1 (as I can see, you have iPad on 7.1.2)
2nd, both devices must be connected to the same apple ID, and on the same wifi network

Oct 31, 2015 6:21 AM in response to Murilo.macby NaeneeH,I have the same problem, prior to the latest upgrade 9.1 I was able to text everyone from my iPad. I can still text everyone from my iPone. The menu under messages on my iPhone has Send as SMS, that is not on my iPad menu. Wish I wouldn't have done the upgrade wias happy before.

Check your continuity settings - Use Continuity to connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac - Apple Support
an iPad can only send SMS texts if connected to an iPhone using iOS continuity features (the phone actually does the SMS sending and receiving and shares messages with the iPad over wifi).
