Q: Re: How can I uninstall OS X Yosemite and return to OS X Mavericks?

Thank you Michel,

I do have an HP printer that also had a startup items that also no longer could be used, but I just located a bunch of plists, and removed them. After they were removed, my macs speed, actually increased a little.

Please describe the problem in as much relevant detail as possible. The "etrecheck" fad hasn't made that step any less necessary. The better your description, the better the chance of a solution.

For example, if the computer is slow, which specific actions are slow? Is it slow all the time, or only sometimes? What changes did you make, if any, just before it became slow? Have you seen any alerts or error messages? Have you done anything to try to fix it? Most importantly, do you have a current backup of all data? If the answer to the last question is "no," back up now. Ask if you need guidance. Do nothing else until you have a backup.

Thank you for your help Linc Davis,

The computer is slowest on startup, and when opening new applications. It used to be slow when I tried to surf the Internet, but since locating & deleting most of the p.lists marked in red, using the app EntreCheck, internet speed has increased a whole lot. I have finally managed to locate all of the plists except for   [invalid?] com.perion.searchprotectd.plist Support. My startup & application speed opening, although faster then it was, is still a little bit slower. Yes I always backup using time machine. That is how I retrieved my data, after my clean install.

Please don't post "etrecheck" stuff in a reply to me. I have no use for it. Are you saying that you deleted system files because of something you saw in the output of that program? If so, you wrecked your installation and need to reinstall.

"failed" does not mean remove, it means something went wrong with your installation, but you should never remove anything from your System Folder, especially if it says it's from "com.apple" as it's obviously something Apple thinks you need.

I suspect you would have had to re-install Yosemite to fix all those faileds in any case, but now you will have to.

You had some Safari adware extensions, but see you got rid of most of them. There are still several I'm not familiar with, but if you are sure you need everything there, then OK, but I'm sure it slows down your browsing experience to some extent.

You still have this adware installed:

2GB of RAM is not nearly enough to adequately run Yosemite, despite what Apple Claims. In my experience 4GB is the absolute minimum with one or two applications running and most users find they need 8GB to be completely comfortable.

I think I'll will wait on doing that. This is absolutely the first time, in months, that my mac has behaved okay, since I first installed Yosemite. I do appreciate your help, but a reinstall will simply return my mac to a crawl.

Just know that you have disabled a number of Yosemite features, including, it appears, the ability to use Software Update and some maintenance/diagnostic routines.

It might 'appear' that way, but software update, and all maintenance/diagnostic routines are behaving just fine. I will reinstall Yosemite, but only 'if', I experience problems down the line.
