There is no "final video" until you Share (export) it and then you specify the destination.
The backups are backups of a library. Your project is inside the library.
I have shared my file and I just get a pop up message saying successfully shared but where on earth did it go????
I am totally unable to change any destination to save anywhere - my God I really think I should not have bought this software - this is SO basic!
Where do I specify the destination?
Which export option are you using? Export master file lets you assign a location. You can do this for most export options, but without knowing which one you're using can't tell you.
Found it finally after calling Apple Support and it took the Technical expert a while to sort it out for me.
I was trying the Apple devices 720 since I require a smaller file rather than the large master.
I was getting no save options at all and simply a share and when I shared, I got a message saying it has been shared but neither me nor the technician could locate where the file has gone, it wasnt even in Movies under Home.
We then went to settings and changed the option to 'Do nothing' from add to iTunes Library and then I was able to get the save option.
While Apple support and products are fabulous, this is a strange phenomenon where one has to really struggle to find the settings to simple SAVE a created file.
This should be one of the most basic aspects and clearly this has been complicated.
Anyway, thanks for your help Tom, Cheers
YYou could also use master file H.264 or computer output. Both will give smaller files than the default ProRes.
DIdnt really ally have to call Apple for that solution.
WWere you charged for this by the way?
Your initial "Share" went into iTunes. Look there in the Movies tab.
This is so you can place(copy)/view your video on an iOS device or Apple TV when you connect them. Default for Apple device setting.
Now you should know how to set the destination in the Share panel and settings tab. You have lots of control in the Settings tab.
If these choices are not enough, you can also create new export settings in Compressor and publish to FCPX.
FCPX is anything but "Basic", but Apple is making lots of things "Contextual" so you may not see all the different options.
FCPX is very different from "legacy" Final Cut Pro.
Hope this helps, Greg
