Battery Life on iPad drops by 50% with iOS 8.1

Since installing iOS 8 and then 8.1, my battery life has dropped in half. I have heard that Apple has a solution:

1) Backup your iPad;

2) Do a hard reset through Settings;

3) Reload everything from backup.

Has anyone heard of this or had success with this? Also, WiFi keeps dropping.

Well, that process can't hurt and you can get a clean install, too. But to get that clean install you need to use your iTunes program on your computer. Be sure you understand your backup process and what information you will lose. Turn off your anti-virus program on your computer for this process. The process from your settings app will not give you a clean install.
