Feb 4, 2015 11:08 PM in response to ATorresNby tedboydboy,i have a same issue with Jukesy. 2 days ago when i woke up, my fingerprints were deleted and i cannot add one. the add fingerprint option is grayed out. i tried restoring to factory settings but even before putting back the back up data, it still won't let me add a fingerprint. i updated to ios 8.1.3 over the weekend.. double tap is also not working. i hate to consider hardware problem because the home button is still working fine and why would my fingerprint be deleted if it is not software related. any other tricks that you may have encountered to revive your touch id?

Feb 5, 2015 11:27 AM in response to jason269by Keifer.Street,I had the same issue but I think I was either a) moving my finger when pressing ever so slightly b) not holding my finger still long enough or c) I wasn't completely covering the home button
Every attempt I have made (while ensuring finger/home button is clean) has worked after I held my finger completely still for a few seconds while completely covering the home button.

Feb 11, 2015 8:25 PM in response to ATorresNby david79auckland,I'm very depressed now. My iphone 6 is not working. Touch ID didn't work so I restored and updated to 8.1.3 and it stuck at 50% and showed the error 53 then bricked . I bought it in New Zealand and I'm working in another country. What should I do now ?

Feb 13, 2015 8:01 AM in response to ATorresNby Rububu,I have my iPhone 6 (64Gb) with the latest soft 8.1.3 and suddenly Touch ID feature stopped working.
It's not the way "iphone doesn't recognize my fingers" but just doesn't recognize I am putting my finger on the button (it's not sparkling meaning he didn't recognize, but just no reaction while I touching the button). Also if I try to add new fingertip - it doesn't work. The window is opened saying 'touch the button' but no fingertip picture with red lines. just white screen.
I tried to restart my iPhone few times - it didn't help.Just to avoid canned reply message about 'oily fingers' etc - the Touch ID feature worked well for me (i used it, i was able to add more fingers and all of them worked for unlocking) for about one month since I bough my iPhone.
Could you please advise? -
Feb 21, 2015 10:44 PM in response to Rubububy mansoorab,Hi,
had exact same problem with 6+, called Apple support USA, was advised to use iTunes and restore phone.
this upgrade got stuck in middle, now phone is a brick as soon as it turns on, it gives iTunes logo to connect phone.
upon connectio, it says phone needs to be restored or updated, which fails with same error 53.
so the phone has become useless and Apple is unable to support or fix it.
so I would suggest, live with non-working Touch ID but don't restore.
br,
mansoor.

Feb 22, 2015 2:27 AM in response to ATorresNby tedboydboy,hi! Apple replaced my phone when i brought it there. I suggest that when your touch id fails, back up your content already then try to restore..if you get stuck at error 53, just go to apple if you still have warranty. They are aware of that error and no solution yet but to replace the unit.

Feb 22, 2015 11:07 PM in response to ATorresNby Jukesy,So my excitement was short lived as 2-3 days after the miracle it stopped working again.
Strangely it seemed to co-incide with using some hand sanitiser but i think that is a co-incdence and your hands would have to be pretty dirty or covered in a special kind of something not to work.
I deleted the prints that i'd added a few days before and now i can't re-add and the double touch for screen scroll down is again not working.
After two weeks or more and many restarts and hand washes it's still broken.
I'm also not in my home country which is where i purchased it so can't go to an apple store (There isn't one here anyway) for swap out.
Any new ideas folks?

Feb 23, 2015 2:07 AM in response to Jukesyby Rububu,I have this issue longing for few weeks now. And it's not about the physical signature of my fingers (sanitiser, sweating, humidity etc)
The sensor just stop working in one moment... for 2 hours, for 2 days... then starts working again... without any logical and similar reason.
I am kinda confused. Because I was going to the apple repair shop, but in that morning it started to work again! And if I come to the repair shop with working sensor - it's just stupid and I know what they'll say to me...

Feb 25, 2015 6:35 PM in response to Rubububy Ocean 17,I have the problem, too.
Sometimes it works, and then it doesn't work at all. Started around 2 weeks ago.
Either the scanner dies quickly - at it can't read the fingerprint any more - or Apple botched something up with the last IOS upgrade.
On some occasions I cannot log in at all, and I have to use the PIN.
PS: when it fails to recognize my finger, I get "try again" shaking.

Feb 26, 2015 11:02 AM in response to Ocean 17by Ocean 17,Today Touch ID has worked only in 50% of the cases. I just had to log in twice in a row with my pass code, because touch ID did not work.

Feb 26, 2015 12:36 PM in response to Ocean 17by bonibee,Same here. My thumb ID fails 90% of the time, yet my index finger is always fine. Had same problem on 5S as I do now on the 6 Plus. Can't believe it.

Feb 27, 2015 7:11 PM in response to ATorresNby Robert 8,It appears that the fingerprint id is not yet ready for prime time. I bought the iPhone 6 eight days ago and after two trips to the Genius Bar and four calls to the Apple Care line the phone would only recognize my fingerprint for about an hour; and then nothing. Apple replaced the phone and I have the same problem. After all of this I am going to report what I have written to Apple. Right now the fingerprint function is useless.

Mar 1, 2015 10:15 PM in response to Jukesyby emilvaldezjr,I had exactly the same issue as yours. I tried updating the software to the latest version but it did not work. Mine was a hardware problem. My carrier immediately replaced my iPhone 6 with a new one. Now I have another issue with my new iPhone. There's an annoying red blurred spot on my screen. Still trying to find a fix.
