Popping noises on Facetime with 2011 Macbook Pro, Yosemite 10.10

So here I am in the good ole afghanistan and thank you Apple for making facetime the best option for calling home over data. My problem started after I upgraded to Yosemite, I'd make a facetime call to the wife's iphone or iMac and on my end receive this loud annoying popping noise. I'd exit all applications and still get it. Only solution was to restart the computer.

Any one else see this? Anything I can do to resolve it?
