Repacking and resealing an iPhone by an authorized reseller in Thailand.
Dear Apple Inc.
Thanks Apple for innovating an iPhone, one of the best phone ever. We were really excited about the official launch of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in Thailand. There was fantastic response from Thai customers and Apple fans.
However, there is concern about selling iPhone by an authorized reseller in Thailand. True, an iPhone authorized reseller, claims that they are eligible to open iPhone package and to inspect for any product defects. Every iPhone shipped by iTrueMart.com, an online stored managed by True, is opened and resealed before shipped to the customer.
This issue is being discussed in Pantip.com, which is the most popular forum in Thailand (aka. Reddit). Please follow this link http://pantip.com/topic/32826421. In the thread, many customers complained that their iPhone had been activated before shipped. Some received iPhone showed cosmetic damages (e.g. minor scratches). The plastic re-sealing was poorly done.
This policy has raised many serious concerns about iPhone shipped to the customers, particularly who order from True online store (iTrueMart.com). Firstly, opening and inspecting an iPhone without customer consent (and without presence of the customer) may lead to cosmetic damages, physical damages or functional damages. Secondly, a repacked and resealed iPhone may be a returned product. At True store, it is quite common that a customer may reject an iPhone after s/he discovers that the product has damages (mostly cosmetic). Thus, the rejected iPhone may be repacked and resealed by True; and it is sold on iTrueMart.com. In both situation, the customer has a chance to receive a defective, either cosmetic or functional, iPhone from the store without being offically informed.
Opening, repacking and resealing an iPhone may result in delivery of low quality or defective Apple product to the customer. Apple product reputation may be tarnished by this policy from True.
Please clarify True’s policy regarding opening an iPhone without customer consent. Your response will be posted on the forum.
Best,
