Nov 9, 2014 2:09 PM in response to Msokoloby Eau Rouge,★HelpfulHi
When you have the save as page open hold the shift key down and click on one of the sides of the box and drag the side in, the box will shrink proportionally revealing the bottom of the dialogue box.

Nov 19, 2014 11:44 PM in response to Msokoloby angusbrown,I have a late 2011 Macbook Pro and I'm having a similar problem with MS Word 2008. When I work with some files the 'Save as' dialogue box is too big for the screen and I can't click on the cancel/save buttons. I'm having to just 'save' these files which is far from ideal.

Dec 2, 2014 8:27 AM in response to Msokoloby angusbrown,Hey Msokolo,
I think I've found a work around for this issue. I've been having the same problem but if I go to the 'View' menu in Word and enable 'Full Screen' I can access the save button no problem. Once it's saved I just go back to my usual view. Hope it works for you!

Jul 17, 2015 2:21 AM in response to Msokoloby akashnrajpal,Save/open/print dialog box is too big in almost all applications, not just MS OFFICE - OS X Yosemite.
The shift scale also does not work.
The problem still persists even in 10.10.4

Sep 4, 2015 8:16 AM in response to Msokoloby tjb317,★HelpfulI've had the same problem for awhile and this is how I was able to rectify the situation.
At the current moment of frustration, in order to get out of the "Save As" window when the Cancel button is not visible, just hit "esc"
To prevent future frustrations - After hitting "esc," Click "View" then "Enter Full Screen" - From here, select "Save As" from the File drop down menu. The Save/Close option should now be within view. Since you're in Full Screen, you can also readjust the pop-up window vertically instead of just horizontally. After doing this, you should now be able to exit Full Screen and still be able to see the Save/Cancel options when choosing the "Save As" command.
Hope it works for you. This did the trick for me

Jan 29, 2016 12:27 PM in response to Eau Rougeby brent?56,Thank you for that excellent advice! I had a similar problem--didn't know how I caused my "save" and "save as" boxes to grow to full screen. Your tip allowed me to fix it.

Mar 17, 2016 8:53 PM in response to Msokoloby soh444,As we can see this issue has been going on a long time and has been summarily ignored by those who are updating and upgrading all the time. As a Writer who uses Word ALL the time, this goes beyond frustrating and almost makes me want to go back to a Microsoft system, but I love the Apple systems too much to go back to that **** either. Some burdens we must bare I guess, at least until Apple (like Horton) hears all the "Who's down in Whoville". Thanks to all for posting these helpful temporary fixes, now if we can just fix this problem that has been going on for soon long and throughout many different IOS updates.

Apr 2, 2016 3:30 PM in response to Msokoloby Linny Jean,I'm having this same problem. I tried going to full screen mode (the menu bar with "File" is not visible), but I used a shortcut to save the document and it's still too big for the screen. Any other solutions, please advise! This is very frustrating.....

Apr 2, 2016 3:38 PM in response to Msokoloby VikingOSX,Maybe its time to move up to a newer release of Office 2016 for the Mac which was written to work with current OS X releases, and screen real estate.
For the truncated Word 2008 Save As panel, try clicking tab, and then press return. That may advance the button selection where you can complete the Save.
