Im not sure if it's a fault, but I don't think so. I've just discovered that the top half of the screen drops down when double tapping the finger scanner (not the home button feature) on the iPhone 6.. Just wondered what the point of it is?!

Some added info. It's called reachability and should be available for all apps not just the home screen like I first thought.
If you mean on the home screen it's so you can use the iPhone with one hand.
New feature in iOS 8 for iPhone 6. Perfectly normal and yours is doing what it was designed to do.
