safari mplayerx or mediadownloader corrupted safari

So, the kid and I were trying to see hockey, guess I screwed up big time...

Cant find any downloads I opened, just got the malware/popups (don't know) but I am constantly redirected to yahoo and mackeeper

I have turned off popups and changed homepage but it resets to

http://www.only-search.com/?babsrc=HP_tedge&affID=129548

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

AdwareMedic won't help with that since it's not adware. It's a JavaScript trick that locks Safari to a page or popup. It seems to particularly attack Safari since from what I've seen so far, it's the only browser that not only gets stuck to the page, but you can't even open the preferences to temporarily turn JavaScript off. Which all that needs to be done to back out of the page, or close the tab. But a few months back, these scum figured out a way to block access to the menu bar from Safari. They can still be rather easily defeated, but not as easy as before.
