Family Sharing Calendar not Created

Family Sharing Calendar not Created

I've just turned on Family sharing but the Family Calendar is not visible or did not get created ? (the family organiser account is on an iPad Air 2 and only 1 other family member using an iPhone6 and iPad Mini 2).

I have Family Reminders available within reminders.

In Settings>Mail,Contact,Calendars - I have Calendars on in iCloud. (I've turned them on and off again to try and see if that will trigger the creation to no effect)

Reading the Family Sharing page, it says the Calendar should be created automatically ??

Any suggestions ?

As you said, it should have been automatically created. Check the calendars list by opening the calendar app, tapping Calendars at the bottom then see if the Family calendar is listed in the iCloud section. If it is, tap it so it is checked, then tap Done.

If it isn't listed, I'm not sure how you troubleshoot it, short of stopping family sharing in Settings>iCloud>Family and setting it up again.

If worse comes to worse, you can always create one yourself by creating an iCloud calendar calendar (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm6b1a9479), then sharing it privately with other members of the family group (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmfbbb2cf9).

I had already done that. That's why I know it's not listed.

Under ICloud in Calendars I can see All iCloud, Home, Work and nothing else. I've toggled every button on that screen to see if it's hidden. Can't find it.

Not beyond what I already posted. You can easily create your own calendar to share with your family. All family sharing does is automate the process, although it apparently didn't work in your case.

Thanks for trying.

I don't want to create a seperate shared Calendar in this instance. I wanted to use the Family Sharing facility to ensure compatibility with future changes and adjustments to the product in the future.

If I don't get any responses from others I'll go to the helpdesk.

I was having the same problem - Family Calendar not showing up on a device after setup of Family Sharing. Tried lots of stuff but finally powered down and restarted the device and it showed up just fine.

Benbo,

It just kind of resolved itself with time. After I setup the family calendar on each machine, I just powered down and up each device and it all started working fine. But it didn't work until I did the powerdown/up.

But there may be multiple problems going on here so this may not work for everyone.

I'd make sure all of your devices are updated with the latest iOS too.
