Backing up iPone 5 on Mackbook Pro

I have an iPod touch and an iPhone 5. Until recently I was able to backup both devices to my Macbook Pro over my wireless network and transfer photos when the devices were backup up. I can still do that with my iPod but my Macbook Pro no longer recognizes my iPone 5. I have the latest operating systems on all three devices. This problem developed yesterday & I installed the updates when they were first available so I don't think the problem is related to the operating system. Does anyone have suggestion I why I have this problem? I there a setting on my iPhone that I need to look at to make sure it is set properly? Any suggestions will be greatly appreceiated. Thank you.
