Cannot change italics to regular in Numbers

The Text selection does not change italics numbers to regular numbers Though it will turn regular numbers into italics and back again. So some cells are stuck in italics. They text in those cells does change to bold and back again. And the text is clearly a number and not some other format.

Thank you for responding. Quitting and relaunching does not help. I should have indicated that when I select a cell with the seemingly permanent italics number the text is indicated to be regular not italic. If I select a cell in which the number is regular the text so indicates and I can switch it back and forth. But the cells that have italic numbers can be made to be bold but cannot be converted to regular. I did not knowingly select these cells to be italicized so their refusal to be converted to regular leaves me with a spreadsheet that looks as though there should be some significance to the fact that some numbers are regular and some are in italics which isn't the case. Or I can make all the numbers italics but that also looks odd.

When I click on a cell with one of the permanent italic numbers the text menu indicates that the number is regular. Some of the numbers in the sheet are regular and those can be changed back and forth. But since Numbers seems to consider the numbers in italics to be regular they cannot be changed using the drop down menu. Switching the selection from regular to italics and back again doesn't do it.

Since I don 't know what caused these numbers to be italicized I cannot go back and undo whatever that was. As I indicated, at no point did I intentionally italicise any numbers in the sheet except in my attempts to figure out how to get rid of the permanent italics numbers when I found that regular numbers could be converted back and forth.

Hi HANROB;

May be the problem is in the font.

A regular type of font can be used as italics and bold as well in Office for Mac application.

But in Pages or Numbers, separate type of a font family is used separately, i.e, italics for italics only and so on.

To be clear, go to the font folder (/Library/Fonts).

You'll see Arial font family has many font types (Arial bold, Arial Italic and so on).

So, when we change from Arial Bold to Arial Italic, Arial Italic font type is in work actually. Arial Bold doesn't change to Arial Italic itself at work.

In your case, the font that you're saying not changing from Italic to Regular is perhaps a single type (Italic) only of its font family, you can find it in the Fonts folder.
