iphone 4s LCD screen broken

So I dropped my Iphone 4S twice in a row today. No cracked screen but the LCD screen is completely broken and I can't see anything but blue lines. 😟

Is it possible to back up the phone with the passcode still on it?

I tried pressing swiping in the bottom area and typing passcode but it didn't work. Can't see anything..

  • How much would it be to get it replaced at the Apple Store? And how long would it take?
  • Would I need to provide my account info? (I'm under Sprint but the account is under my fiance's name.)

ANY help is appreciated.

Thanks!

You can only back up the phone if you've made at least 1 backup to this computer in the past - then it shouldn't matter if you have the passcode or not. If you've never backed up your phone, then you can't back it up now.

Apple doesn't repair the iPhone 4S screens; they only do that for the 5 and newer. You should be able to pay for an out-of-warranty replacement phone, which is $199 for the 4S.

Hi Lyssa, thanks for responding!

I have done a backup to my laptop before for this phone but I received the following message, "iTunes could not back up the iPhone because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPhone before it can be backed up."

Anyone know how to get around this??

Would Apple representative be able to back up my phone on their end to my laptop?

No. Apple representative will not, but they may be able to tell you if you have icloud backup.

I have not seen/heard this myself, but another user here mentioned that damaging the display can also "break" the connection between the phone & computer and cause iTunes to demand the passcode. I'm guessing some other internal component gets damaged.

The folks at the Apple store may be able to help figure out if you have a recent iCloud backup, but they won't be able to get any data off the phone using iTunes.
