Change Forum Username

Your memory may be correct - or not - I wasn't around in 2008 !!

NOW, if you choose an "alias" username that is already in use = turingtest2 for example (he loves being made an example of) = the "system" will offer you "suggestions" - most often firstnamefromyourcity - not exactly what many prefer for privacy reasons!

My point is that back in 2008 the "suggestive text" may have been Firstname Lastname

if you do not hear from the Hosts in a couple of hours, post back and we will remind them about it

@turingtest2, are you able to update user names?

I have the exact same issue, and from all replies it seems to be either impossible or implicitly accessible.

I first logged into the forum 7 years ago back in China, and I have no idea why my username consists of my firstname and my city of origin. None of the settings seem to be able to change this.

How? It happens because the sign-up page suggested an option of <Name> from <Location> as a possible username, although you're free to choose an alternative if you prefer. Are asking about changing yours?

I want to change my user name in the forum ,it has name and city of residence .. these are my privacy I should have a provision to decide what my user name should be , even showing my name to public have a privacy concerns

I agree, this is totally absurd on Apple's part. Look how many people want to change their flippin username. It could take all of five seconds to do but we have to write a request for it to get done? Insane. Anyway, can you add me to the list of people who would like their username changed please? I would *greatly* appreciate it. Thank you! :)

Neither, but this one is closer - they have been alerted via a reporting system that is available to Level 2 and above

Hmm, not so sure on that one. Change your Apple ID - Apple Support might cover it, although that might have other implications depending on where else you make use of the Apple ID.

In retrospect there is something that strikes me as very odd:

I don't think I typed in my real name as the username way back when I create the account. I would never so such a thing. In reality my username and my real name were switched somehow. There is something strange going on I wouldn't consider myself responsible for...

It has come to my attention that my display username contains my real name. I would also like to know how to modify my forum username for privacy reasons. Can someone report to a moderator for me and see if I can get this updated?
