I dont know how I ended up with a username that advertises both my name and city of residence (I would never choose such a name if I knew it would be posted publicly), but for privacy reasons I'd like to set my forum username to something that isn't so personal. Searching the forums has led me to believe that there is no way for users to do this, but that mods might be able to assist me. How can I contact a moderator to request a change of username?
Earlier, when this was "hot", a memory popped - Hosts have on occasion changed a name like that - my judgement at the time was there was some sort of "communication" problem 'twixt them and the poster - email in Junk (?) - and the random change 'alerted' the user that they indeed were on the job!
If Host email contact was in Junked, no following emails would be likely to get through either, the Hosts' reasoned.

I see this looks like the place to get a username corrected. I don't know what happened, but it looks like I sat on the keyboard during my username set up. Would it be possible to get it to corrected to something that looks a little less like it came from a spammer. Possibly, ATL_Creative. Any help is much appreciated.

Hi I'm new here and created my username here on ASC yesterday by typing gibberish on my keyboard.
I did not realise I was already logged in to my Apple ID.
I now have a meaningless username "Shshshh".
Could someone help me so that I can change my ASC username from "Shshshh" to "ansality"?

Same here! Did you ever figure out how to change it? Because obviously the commenter below doesn't understand that it's the user name that is the problem.
As a user you cannot change your own username using any of the controls provided on the forum. However this is a feat that the hosts can manage if asked nicely. It is also easier now than perhaps it was when this thread was started due to changes behind the scenes. Do you actually want to change yours, in which case somebody who has reached level 2 can forward your request, or are you just passing comment?
