Q: cannot add icloud public calendar to outlook

I work and live in a mixed Mac/PC environment.  The PCs are Windows 7 professional with Outlook 2010.  The Macs are Yosemite.  I would like to be able to subscribe to a public icloud calendar on one of the PCs.  We could do this a week ago.

Now when we add the calendar it crashes Outlook.  Furthermore, I noticed that the calendar address no longer ends in .ics which Outlook requires.

The new icloud control panel crashed Outlook as well.

I tried joining the private calendar and it does not show up in Outlook either.

Is the new icloud interface not ready for prime time?

Any solutions or work arounds?

Thank you in advance for any help,

Debbie

I and 3 of my colleagues are having the exact same issue with Windows 7, Outlook 2010 and ICloud.  So far, I have uninstalled the old version and reinstalled a clean version of icloud without success. When Outlook 2010 starts up it crashes unless I sign out of icloud in which is starts up just fine.  Please help : )

Either Yosemite or the new iCloud interface broke the play nice with Outlook.  The other thing I noticed is that if you look at the public url it no longer ends with .ics.  Windows needs to see that.

    Keep our fingers crossed.

For What it is worth, I just spent a hour with tech support on the phone and they could not figure it out.  I have learned that the Crash does not happen in Office 2013.

My Mac's not yet on Yosemite, so Yosemite's not the culprit.

An iCloud calendar populated from an iPad that I previously shared with my Outlook 2010 client on Windows 7 without error caused Outlook to crash, when Outlook initiated a sync attempt with my subscribed calendars, today (13th November 2014).  Removing the calendar subscription allowed Outlook to run without crashing. Re-subscribing using the iCloud-provided public calendar URL once again cause Outlook 2010 to crash.

My Windows 7 PC and Office 2010 are current with all updates as of 13th November 2014.

I am also having this problem, only removing the internet calendar subscription stops outlook crashing and as soon as you add it in again it crashes once more. I have other internet calendars added to outlook fine.

Thank you to everyone for replying.  It is always good to know I am not alone.  Would like to know what changed.  Hopefully apple will look into this.

I read this morning it was due to the fact that the iCloud add on was turned off.  Indeed it was.  turned back on.  Added the shared calendar and CRASH.  When it recovers that add on is turned off.

So it does not seem that it is a simple fix.

Same issue here... Outlook 2010 crashing non-stop until I remove the publicly shared iCloud calendar.  Once removed, Outlook runs smoothly.  I have been linked to the same iCloud calendar for 2 years on 2 different PCs running Outlook 2010 and all worked flawlessly until Friday morning.  Is Apple aware of the problem?

I have noticed that the URL for my public calendar does not end in .ics.  Outlook needs this to add the calendar.  I am going to try and add it manually and see what trouble it causes or if it fixes the issue for me.

    Keep you posted.

Another thought is that 2010 is old at this point and I wonder if Apple no longer cares about this product.

adding the .ics did not work.  Outlook could not verify the calendar.

Same problem here with Outlook 2013 on Win7, no iCloud add-on.

For me it started on Friday 14th. Since then I can't have a subscription to my iCloud calendar without Outlook crashing when trying to sync it.

Apple, whatever you did, please undo it.

I am using Office 2013 with SP1 on Win7, and it crashes. But I heard that we don't have all existing patches installed yet, we will have them installed in 2 weeks. Hopefully that will fix the problem.
