Import other podcasts into iTunes U?

I would like to take advantage of the note taking capabilities of iTunes U when listening to non-iTunes U podcasts. I am using iOS 8.1 on an iPad (4th ten) and an iPhone 5s.

Is there a way to import other podcasts into iTunes U? Or, is there a similar note-taking feature in Podcast or another app that I have missed?

At this point, text notes are fine, but I would prefer audio notes for when I listen to podcasts on my iPhone or cannot easily type. (Even a way of adding bookmarks would be better than me trying to scribble down the time of the important part of the podcast and my thoughts.)

I am wondering the same thing. For some reason some of the lectures in iTunes U allow notes while others do not. There does not seem to be any good instructions about how iTunes U works. I believe the difference between the courses and the collections is the ability to take notes and other things. I do not understand why for collections another podcast we are not able to take notes. That seems to be a big oversight and failure in my mind.
