Q: FCP7.03 Protection Error, out of the blue!

Mac Pro, 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad Core

Just started a new editing job from home. FCP was working fine until this morning when I got the dreaded "This application cannot continue because another application with an identical serial number is already running on another computer on your network." However my laptop doesn't have FCP on it and there are no other computers around. I tried restarting, turning off the airport, etc... I know I can run it if I disconnect the internet entirely but that's not convenient. Gotta get this work done and make a good impression as I just started the job! Should I reinstall FCP? Any help is much appreciated.

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

Reinstalling won't fix this. Someone out there has your serial number, and is using it. This only works if they are on the same LAN...not internet wide.  So if you are in a workplace, then any machine in that workplace can be the culprit. If you are at home...hmmmm.

Try trashing your preferences, just in case...solves a lot of wonky issues. DigitalRebellion.com has a free app that does this...an app Apple uses. Preference manager.

If you're only connected to the internet via your airport, turning your airport off should solve this problem.
