If you need to recover a forgotten Apple ID password take a look at the Apple support page:
https://iforgot.apple.com/password/verify/appleid
If you can't remember the four digit passcode you will have to restore you iPad using iTunes.

If the iPad is telling you to restore through iTunes that is what you'll have to do. You can recover your photos and other data from a recent backup. You do occasionally backup your iPad don't you?
