What Does "Reset Safari" Do?

After a reset, Safari will not remember my bank user ID. "Save user ID on this computer" does not work.

A laptop with the same OS version and Safari build does save the UID.

What did resetting Safari do to this function, and how do I get it back?

Power Mac G5, Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Hi James,

This from Safari's Help

Resetting Safari
""If you use a shared or public computer, you may want to reset Safari to prevent other people from seeing what you have been doing.

Resetting Safari clears the history, empties the cache, clears the Downloads window, and removes all cookies. It also removes any saved user names and passwords or other AutoFill data and clears Google search entries.

In addition, any open windows are closed and a new window opens. The new window has a new history for the Back and Forward buttons and the SnapBack buttons."

Removing the com.apple.Safari.plist file will do pretty much the same.

Sorry, to say you have to reset all your preferences all over again, add all the autofill items...etc
They should all still be in Keychains though, i think. I am not sure, I can not reset right now to check.

Sounds as if the portable is the one not functioning as should after a reset.
