Accidentally overwriting iPhoto library

When I clicked iPhoto today, it told me that I didn't have any albums and that I should create a new one. I must have ended up creating a new one and essentially overwriting my existing library due to the fact that my iPhoto library went missing and couldn't find itself. When I created a new one with the same name, it overwrote the existing one. After being on the phone will Apple Support, they said the best thing is to do some sort of recovery. What recovery do you recommend and how do you recommend going about it? I would love to get back those two years of photos.

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10)
