Hi ..

Might be corrupted network preferences as a result of the upgrading.

Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder

Type or copy paste the following:

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration

Click Go then move all the files in the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.

Restart your Mac.

See if that makes a difference.

Your Mac will generate a new SystemConfiguration folder for you.

I am having this issue too and have tried many of the suggested solutions. Still dropping wifi every few minutes on my Mac Book Pro. The thing is, why hasn't Apple fixed this bug? I shouldn't HAVE to be wasting all this time and doing all this troubleshooting. There SHOULD be an update that fixes it for everyone. How did this even get released? When is Apple going to fix this?

The ironic situation is the recent 10.10.1 was suppose to solve the bugs that causes random units WIFI to drop off constantly.

Is the engineers in Cupertino doing something now? Perhaps not as they are all given leave for the entire Thanksgiving week. Meaning don't use the mac over the festive season. Spend time with family. If you need online to get in touch with family, use a LAN cable. If you want Wireless use a PC.

No one cares the frustration and the nuisance.

For now there seems to be no help or communication from Apple.

Alternative, switch back to OS X Maverick.

On my side, wifi is generally working but not at the office (where I spend most of my time btw 😢).

There I have to connect using PEAP / MSCHAP v2 the network is connected but no way to finalize authentication.

Maybe the idea of TalhafromSpace is a good one. But I find I've spent too much time on this yosemite upgrade.

Apple ! shame on you for this one

"Every bit as powerful as it looks." you meant painful?

In this case Apple act very unpleasant against customers by their silence.

After update, I have no WiFi connection at all!

MacBook Pro (15”, medio 2010), 2,53 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 - OSX 10.10.1

After 20 years with Apple, this can make me move to other platform - simply that I do not accept the companys behavior. Some kind of apology would make this problem more acceptable ... - Apple them self should be the first to go out and warn against Yosemite -

Here is the step by step procedure to solve this problem:

1. Shut down your Mac

2. Unplug the computer's power cord.

3. Wait at least 15 seconds and

4. Plug the cord back in and

5. Wait at least 5 seconds. You have just reset the System Management Controller (SMC)

The next steps will reset the Parameter RAM (PRAM).

In the previous section, you ended with the power cord plugged in and the computer is still off. Now follow these steps.

1. Locate "Command Key", "Option Key" (next to the command key), the letter "P" and "R".

2. As soon as you push the power button on your Mac, press and hold "Command", "Option", "P" and "R" before the grey screen (you will hear the start up

sound).

3. Continue to hold these keys until you hear the start up sound the 2nd time.

4. Release the keys and let the computer start up normally.

Your computer is designed to operate with ANY of the modern WIFI modems (AT&T, etc), and with the Yosemite OS. This should fix the problem unless the WIFI isn't selected properly in preferences. I had the same problem...upgraded to Yosemite and WIFI was dropped constantly. Not anymore:)

Yosemite is a nightmare. I've lost hundreds in lost revenue since I upgraded. I can't work. It's constantly dropping my connection, this is the buggiest OS X version I've seen. I've even done a clean install twice, had to spend hours on getting all back from back ups etc. and it's still useless. I've never been this close to throwing this whole piece of junk into the wall. Since when did we who pay the premium for Apple have to live with this kind of utter nonsense.

But it's not only me, it's everyone in my whole office. Whoever is responsible for not getting this fixes and for releasing this utter useless OS needs to get sacked.

It's been too long and no end in sight. Come on already!

I just purchased a new Mac Pro with Yosemite 10.10.1. I had the same issues as everyone else on a brand spankin' new setup. I'm also running a 2008 Mac Pro on OS 10.6, a new iMac 27" on Mavericks 10.9 and a PC on Win. 8.1. I use a wireless keyboard and wireless track pad on my iMac which works great all the time so what I've done is install a program called Synergy. It's really cool because it lets me use only my one wireless key board and track pad on all 4 computers.

I set up my iMac as the server (since it works flawlessly on that) and the other 3 computers as clients. This is a great work around for the Yosemite wifi issues since the one key board and track pad are working from my iMac through the network to all 3 other machines. Check out the Synergy web site. You can download the program for multiple computer platforms for $10! You multiple computer users will be in heaven only needing one device for all of your computers, regardless of Mac or PC. This awesome software can link up to something like 11 computers on the same network!

I have just upgraded from Mountain Lion to Yosemite. I skipped Mavericks. What is this problem with WiFi keep dropping.

In Mountain Lion there was no problem. Since I upgraded to Yosemite my WiFi is constantly dropping.

The router is fine. Other hardware in the house is okay with WiFi. The ethernet connections have no problem.

Last week I deleted my WiFi settings and also switched of the router for 30mins.

I reconnected WiFi, it was okay for a while, perhaps a day, now it is constantly dropping WiFi again.

I am fed up with ethernet cables running around the house.

Hello Apple, if you're listening. A solution would be fantastic, or should I just go back to Mountain Lion and save the hassle.

I am using a Powerbook 15in late 2011.

Regards. Eric

Yes, Apple. I have used Mac's for 30 years, but this Yosemite WiFi thing is derived me daft.I have never had anything like this before.

IN 2015 I am having to use an ethernet cable to get online - what a joke.

Wake up Apple and sort out this bug instead of us having to reload OS, etc, etc ,etc , etc just to get WiFi.

Don;t you realise that today the internet is more important than it was in the past.

Look after your customers.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

BINGO ;-)

i think i have cracked the issue for now. it seems to be a bluetooth issue !!!

i switched off the bluetooth, had to connect a usb mouse and keyboard :-(, and instantly the wifi started working.

i had tried all the other solutions mentioned in this forum and elsewhere on the net, but they would work temporarily only and then back to the wifi drop problem.

also no bluetooth and so no bluetooth problems either. but unfortunately using an old usb mouse which i am not comfortable with.

i hope apple sorts this issue. i have been a mac user for 30 years and never had such an issue before.

using a Mac Mini (late 2012) with OS X 10.10.1

wifi with Yosemite
