iTunes U media kind is not recognized as video on iPad

I've submitted this to Apple via iTunes Feedback. I'm wondering if anyone knows a solution.

When I add an mp4 video to iTunes library and change media kind to iTunes U the video is not recognized as video anymore in iTunes U on iPad. iPad plays audio only.

If I change media kind to Home Video, iPad plays it as video in the Videos app.

I use iTunes U on iPad because it has speed control.

I can still play iTunes U videos where the media kind was set in the previous version of iTunes.

When I set media kind to iTunes U in iTunes 12.0.1.26 it's not recognized as video when played on iPad. iOS 8.1.

It looks like there is a problem with iTunes 12.0.1.26 not setting iTunes U media kind properly.

iPad Mini, OS X Yosemite (10.10)
