Dec 12, 2014 2:42 PM in response to eddiedduby eddieddu,Seams to be a Yosemite "feature" to ignore network scanners previously worked very well. I went to Canon's support page and downloaded MP Navigator software. This reanimated my network scanner and enabled also scanning using the scanner panel without using Apples Preview. Happy again. Works better than Apples stuff and has more features !!!! Thanks, Apple.

Dec 21, 2014 11:30 AM in response to Jerseyorchardby srelan, same problems here. Sometimes I can simply restart the printer, but often it requires unplugging the printer and repowering then can print.
Then like clockwork, a subsequent print job returns that same printer connection error.
My one mac in the house NOT yet on Yosemite prints perfectly fine. This is obviously a Mac OS Yosemite problem, and not with the Canon MX870 printer.

Jan 15, 2015 8:13 PM in response to Jerseyorchardby srelan, any updates to this? Apple? This is still happening. After every successful print job, I still get a "communication error", go down the hall, turn printer off and back on, then can printer another job. Repeat the next time I need to print.
Is there at least any acknowledgement from Canon or Apple of what the problem is? Do we need to ditch the printer as it won't be supported in Yosemite on out? The printer works perfectly fine when someone comes into office with Mavericks or older on their Macbook, but we're all Yosemite in the office.
