yes thats the way it should work and always had for me until now.

Have the same problem with iPhoto 9.6 on Yosemite. After upgrade, iPhoto will NOT recognize @sbcglobal.net server. AT&T said to change outgoing mail server to "outbound.att.net" on port 465. Acct type should be "other". But this will not work either. Gmail accounts will work though. Would very much like to get sbcglobal.net server connection to work. Reloading account information does not do it.

iPhoto only sends what you enter to the email service - they either accept it so reject it - call SBC global support again
