Mouse keeps phantom clicking twice! How to correct?

Hi. I recently got a MacBook Pro, and have plugged in my mouse from my old PC, a Razer Diamondback mouse. It's been working fine for the last few days, but as of now, every click I do counts automatically for two, which means I keep highlighting words and paragraphs, and opening up and closing windows when what I'm trying to do is just move a cursor or select a file.

Not sure if this is a "Mac" mouse, but as I mentioned, it's been working great until now.

Could it be spyware? Do I need a new mouse?
Your help and comments are very appreciated. Thanks.

Hi blufire,

Don't worry about spyware. Or virus attacks either. Welcome to the joys of OS X. Did you open System Preferences and go to Keyboard & Mouse? You could check all the settings to see if an adjustment will help. Did you install the latest Mac drivers? It might help it to be more accurate. Here is a link.......

Thanks for the reply. I can only adjust the double click speed via OS X settings (tracking and scrolling are irrelevant) and changing that didn't help.

I tried that Razer driver download you sent, but it made my mouse super sluggish unfortunately. I was sure I could tweak that somehow, but the double-clicking was still there anyway, so I removed that driver and now installed the Steermouse driver, which has great features, but still the double clicking persists.

Not sure what else to do? Am I the only one with this problem?

I am using the same mouse on my new MacPro. I finally got it to work using Razer's software at http://www.razerpro.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=13&Itemid=27

The mouse is still rather sensitive, but after a day of using it, I have adjusted myself to the ultra sensitivity. And there are various settings within Razer Pro 1.6.5 that allows you to adjust the Double Click Speed. Even at the lowest possible level, I still occassionally get a double click when I click only once. I guess it is because I hold the mouse button down too long.
