Q: Upgrade to Yosemite was seemless.

Just wanted to share the fact that I upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite yesterday and the whole process was smooth (albeit lengthy.....).  So far, the only complaint is that iMovie, which used to be a standard Apple app included free with each OS, now costs $14.99 in the App Store.  Pretty stupid, Apple!

With a couple of quick extension loads, a couple of non-Apple app upgrades (all free), I seem to be up and running with all functions as before.

On a somewhat unrelated note that might help some iPhone users, this upgrade seemed to cure my issue of missing keyboard shortcuts that has plagued so many users this year.  They are BACK!  I'm on iOS 8.1 FYI.

I also upgraded my 2010 27" iMac to Yosemite. An easy, faultless process. Afterwards I upped my RAM from 4gb to 12gb and it's now like a new machine!

The upgrades for Appeture and iPhoto were all free. Full marks for another great Apple upgrade experience

It's refreshing that people with a positive experience share that with us on this forum. If you look at the ratings in the Mac App Store there must be a lots of them but they hardly take the effort to let us know here (and that's understandable). I'm one of those happy users of Yosemite as well (iMac early 2009).

@wlewnka if you had iMovies in your purchases in the Mac App Store before, if not normal you have to pay for it now. If that's the case contact Apple and have them correct this. If you haven't purchased it before, it's another matter.

Oh, and forgot to mention this.  Other than a seemingly longer startup process, all my apps seem FASTER to respond under Yosemite.  Gotta say I'm happy I upgraded.  But I do advise doing your research prior, just to make sure you have the proper hardware and no critical incompatible software!

Yes ! same - Yosemite seems much less demanding of RAM - so even before adding more RAM, my iMac was running better. In fact it had become so slow that i'd asked on these forums how to speed it up but nothing had worked.  Now I have a Bloomberg TV window running, VLC , safari, tweet deck, mail TOR browser & Fuze and everything works at the same time
