Q: Final Cut Express 4.0. Viewer is in 4:3 aspect ratio, canvas is squashed.

Final Cut Express 4.0.

Why is the viewer showing the correct 4:3 aspect ratio but the canvas has a horizontal bar across the bottom?

See attached image.

I am using poor quality footage pulled from old VHS tapes.

But when I export it looks like the Canvas, not the Viewer.CanvasViewer.png

Under a deadline - any advice/help would be great.

    Click on one of your source clips in the FCE Browser to select it, and  once selected type Command + 9 to see the Item Properties for the clip. Either report those properties here, or take a screen shot of the Item Properties and post that screen shot here.

     

    Next, click on the icon for the troublesome sequence in the FCE Browser to select it, and once selected type Command + 9 to see the properties for the sequence you are editing. Either report those properties here, or take a screen shot of the properties of your sequence and post that screen shot here.
