"Paper Mismatch" printing envelopes from Contacts

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8600 n911a. The lasted driver is installed.

When I try to print a custom sized envelope from my Contacts I get an error message saying "Paper Mismatch". "Paper detected does not match paper size or type selected. Make sure the paper size or type is correct to continue the job."

The paper size is correct. I have even tried creating a new custom envelope and it still does not work. I have tried using the HP site but their ideas do not work as they assume you are using Word.

This never happened prior to Yosemite. I can print #10 sized envelopes but nothing else.

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10)

I am using envelopes that are 7.25 inches by 5.25 inches, sometimes called A7.

I am printing from my Contacts.

I highlight the name in Contacts.

Go to File menu and choose Print

I then choose Envelopes from the style menu

I choose my layout and orientation.

Click print

The printer makes some noise and then I get a chime and the error message "Paper Mismatch".

I have tried printing the envelopes from my son's laptop and I get the same error message.

I have tried defining another custom envelope size. A7 sized envelope is not an option to choose from the drop down menu.

I CAN print number 10 envelopes and all other printing works.

I installed the most recent driver update.

I deleted the printer from my Mac and then added it again.

I have unplugged the printer and waited over one minute prior to replugging it in.

Thank you!

I have the same issue. I'm trying to print the same size envelopes, through contacts, using the same printer. I get the same error.

Now for the good news....

Here's how to workaround it.

In contacts select whatever people you want and bring up the print window.

Setup everything so the envelopes look how you want them to but DO NOT PRINT THEM.

Instead there is an option on the lower left for "Save to PDF"

Do that and save the pdf to your desktop.

Open that sweet pdf file in preview.

You should be looking at your envelopes formatted exactly how you want them.

Now print them in preview!!

I chose 5x7 for the paper size

(I would suggest doing this workflow using only one or two envelopes at first to test it all out but it worked for me)

Good Luck
