I used to use iphone 5 in my mercedes but now cannot pair iphone 6 with my car's bluetooth phone system. Any suggestions?

Hi, nalcioglu.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

Here are a couple articles that have some helpful troubleshooting steps regarding car stereo connections and an iOS device.

Hi there. I don't know if this will help you but it worked for me and hopefully it will help someone out there.

My problem: new iPhone 6 would not pair with mercedes bluetooth. My car would detect the phone but the phone would not detect the car's bluetooth. I tried EVERYTHING suggested on the internet forums which included: deleting all prior bluetooth devices from the phone, deleting prior phones from the car's bluetooth, resetting the network settings on the iPhone, resetting the system in the car (which is a pain in the butt and I would not suggest unless you want to reset your radio stations, time, etc).

What ultimately worked for me: I went into the system setting in the car, and selected bluetooth devices, phones and then 'options' then external authorization. MB bluetooth showed up on my phone and the car asked if I wanted to authorize. It said that it couldn't pair with the phone but had a screen to enter in a code. I entered in a random 00000 and the phone asked for a code. I entered in the same 00000 and the devices successfully paired and I was able to successfully make a call. Not sure why I could randomly make up a code (usually the code pops up on the phone and you enter it into the car's system) but I am not complaining.

Good luck to you!

This worked for me,

2011 E350

New iphone 6+

On MB phone menu delete all phones

On iphone, If there are any MB phones listed, Delete them

On iphone, go to blue tooth menu, make sure it says "now discoverable"

On MB menu, click Update. Phone was discovered, and pairing was done as usual.

***note*** the first time I tried to pair I got an "unsuccessful" message. the only difference between this instance and the one that was successful, was that during the first attempt of the discovery process my iphone screen went into auto lock (blank screen) and the pairing failed. The second time I made sure the screen stayed on, and it was successful.

I have spent hours over this same problem, also tried all of the above. So frustrating. I rang a 'phone technician' who said I would have to take the car to the Mercedes dealer & get the extra firmware installed! I rang my Mercedes local dealership & the chap said you need to external authorise from the phone (???), not the car and to use 0000, "bring it in and it will take me minutes to do it!". Then I came across this post, and low and behold it actually worked! Over the moon, didn't cost me a penny, Many thanks!
