Q: Hide Update no longer working in Yosemite

I've looked at many threads for an answer to this, but while many are close, I've yet to find an answer to this specific issue.

Before Yosemite, you could "hide" software update notifications from the App Store by Control (right) clicking in the body of the Update notice in the App Store and be presented with the option to "Hide Update". Since moving to Yosemite, this no longer works for me. It's not just that you don't get the option to hide - sometimes you do, sometimes you don't. And even when you do, it doesn't work. For example, right now I have Notices for 2 updates, one for Digital Raw Compatibility, and one for iMovie, neither of which I want. When I Control click on the "Raw" update the little dialog box to "Hide Update" appears but clicking on it does nothing. With the iMovie update, Control clicking does not even present that option.

Not an earth shattering issue, but that little red number in the AppStore dock icon and the daily Notifications bug me out.

Exactly the same issue... so bumping this up again.  I've also looked everywhere for a solution.  It's not the end of the world but is very annoying with the daily routine of having to dismiss the notification window.  Have already done a few updates for software i don't really use such as pages and old printers which I no longer have... now have a couple of really big updates and just want to control what i do/do not update without having it forced on the screen every day.

    Come on Apple!

yeah same problem here with trying to hide iMovie and keynote updates, and some i can hide.

as for the daily notification i think you can get rid of that by going to the App Store prefs in System Preferences

and unchecking Automatically check for updates.

I, too, am having this same issue. I can always get the "Hide Update" button, but it doesn't work.

Software update wants to "update" my iWork applications. Apple replaced Pages with the fifth version, which was the first version of all new code that was rebuilt from the ground up, yet the same app; upgraded to have 100 fewer features.

I need to hide updates to prevent my data from being destroyed.

Just upgraded to iMac 5K Retina, and App Store is really bugging me. It does not show software I have that needs updating, and shows updates to software that is not even on my computer (Remote Mouse???). I cannot seem to use the old hide feature for software I don't care about. Even if I click "Update", nothing happens... Maybe because I don't even have that app??? So the "update" notification NEVER GOES AWAY. SO IRRITATING! C'mon Apple!!! This is PATHETIC!!!

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

    Worked for me too!

Note that you need to ignore (pun intended) any trailing stuff after the update identifier name, e.g. when I listed available updates I saw this listed:

    "RAWCameraUpdate6.05-6.05"

If you ignore RAWCameraUpdate6.05-6.05 it won't hide the update and will actually list it in the updated ignore list.

I had to do it again with just "RAWCameraUpdate6.05" then it hid it instantly.

    Thanks @adamland!

I'm a new MacBook Pro user with OS X (Yosemite). The App Store wanted me to update iPhotos which is no longer supported. I kept getting an error message that the update was unavailable.

I went to the Applications folder in Finder and located iPhotos. I deleted that and reloaded the App Store page and voila! The update was gone. Hope that helps somebody.
